Barberyn Island is a small 8-acre island off the coast of a town named Beruwala in Sri Lanka. The island has become a tourist attraction because of the lighthouse that it holds. The Barberyn Lighthouse, often called as the Beruwala Lighthouse, was constructed in 1888-1889. It is a 34-meter-high structure with a range of 27 nautical miles. After its completion, it was modified in 1969 and further upgradation was done in the year 2000. Sri Lanka has a total of 4 international lighthouses, and this is one of them. Go up the lighthouse and enjoy the scenic view of the unending waters.
