Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary - Review
One of the most prominent bird sanctuaries around the world, the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is truly a spectacle. The perfect place for bird watching, and spotting rare species, this place is a must see for anyone who wishes to have a tryst with nature. The wetlands of the sanctuary are naturally perfect for migratory birds, who flock here by the millions. You will see lots of ducks, geese, waders, raptors, flycatchers and more. If you’re lucky, you’ll even witness the slender and stunning Siberian Crane. This world heritage site is a perfect mix of nature, wildlife, and serenity. Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Bharatpur Reviews
We visited the place in July. Few tips, try mornings for the visit, rent bicycles for RS 50 for 4 hrs. There are few intermediate points where u can get water and some snacks. In case you hire a Rickshaw or Tonga, the driver will double ip as guide. We were able to see some birds and monitor lizard and water snake. People will have better luck in the morning or evening hours. Do visit in Oct-mar period.
Good place. Avoid going in summers as the heat will spoil your experience best to visit during winter seasons to observe migratory birds. Heaven for bird watching enthusiasts. Bicycles and rickshaws available for touring.
Bharatpur bird Sanctuary is in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, Over 230 species of birds are known to be resident. It is also a major tourist centre with scores of ornithologists arriving here in the hibernal season. It was declared a protected sanctuary in 1971. It is also a World heritage Site.
Heaven for nature lovers. Best time of the year to visit: early February. Recommended itinerary: stay in Bharatpur a night before. Reach the sanctuary before the sunrise and spend the day there. It’s recommended to rent a bicycle or hire a rickshaw. Pro tip: try not spending a lot of time in the first 500-800 metres dry area. You’ll see a lot more birds as the wetland begins on the sides.
Our group visited this place from Jaipur for a day and it was money well spent. Winter is the best time to see many migratory birds visiting this sanctuary. If you are photography enthusiast bring your camera for bird pictures. The guide services and transport means are availabe for exploring the place.
