Located in the midst of several other ancient temples of Bhubaneshwar, Lingaraja temple stands out because of its remarkable architectural work. The temple is said to be dedicated to Lord Shiva. As you look at the exterior walls of the temple, you can see the intricate craftsmanship on it. The artistic sculptures carved on the red stone walls of the temple are surely going to put you in awe of it. It is believed that the temple dates back to the 11th century and it follows Kalinga architectural style. However, some people also say that a portion of the temple was built way back in 6th century. Inspite of the confusion regarding the establishment of the temple, a visit to this temple is a must, especially if you are fond of ancient architecture.

  • Awesome temple with great architecture feeling of ancient time. Must visit and very powerful God.Gigantic Temple with numerous people visiting it every day for prayers.. Temples of different god and goddess present in the complex. Very spiritual place. Phone and shoes will be deposited in shoe house before entering temple premise. . One feel relaxed, calmed, pleasant n energized by spending half an hour or so.

  • Amazing place. If you want to have some time in a holy place , you will be having a kind of best environment inside. The energy inside will separate you from the world. If you want to feel detached from the world for more than a minute, this is the go to place for you. Especially in the evening. Well this temple consists of separate places to do puja of every god. And the important thing is that MOBILE phones are not allowed inside.

  • A good place for Diety. Visit with a good guide, he can tell you a lot. But nothing as such if you're interested in seeing its architecture.

  • Large Temple complex Other than the main deity, many sub deities. Many of them has to be assessed by climbing up few steps. May other dieties are below the ground level, we have to go down few steps. There are priests at most shrines and they offer special Pooja to the devotees Mobiles and cameras have to be kept outside the walls

  • A place worth visiting. Says a lot about the archaeological heritage of Odisha. A group of large and small temples, correctly aligned but the prieSts playing spoil sport, demanding money and dividing the temple complex in to their territory. Parking lot is the lingaraj police station compound where they collect parking fee without receipt. It's true hardships are plenty at the Almighty s premises.
