Lingaraja Temple - Review

Located in the midst of several other ancient temples of Bhubaneshwar, Lingaraja temple stands out because of its remarkable architectural work. The temple is said to be dedicated to Lord Shiva. As you look at the exterior walls of the temple, you can see the intricate craftsmanship on it. The artistic sculptures carved on the red stone walls of the temple are surely going to put you in awe of it. It is believed that the temple dates back to the 11th century and it follows Kalinga architectural style. However, some people also say that a portion of the temple was built way back in 6th century. Inspite of the confusion regarding the establishment of the temple, a visit to this temple is a must, especially if you are fond of ancient architecture.

While exploring the vast complex of the temple, don’t miss out to crane your neck and see the 55 meters tall spire of the temple that dominates Bhubaneshwar’s skyline.
