About Udayagiri And Khandagiri Caves, Bhubaneshwar
Away from the bustling city, these multi-layered Jain rock caves of Udayagiri and Khandagiri showcases the influence of Jainism in the historical period of Orissa. During the reign of Jain King Kharavela, these caves used to be the dwelling retreats for Jain monks. The caves have very low ceiling, barely letting any person to stand erect. The facades of these caves are adorned with auspicious objects related to Jainism that were worshipped during those days. The strange fact about these caves is few of them were naturally created while some were carved by Jain monks.
However, with times most part of this range of caves has turned into ruins. But whatever is left behind, it does depicts the fine architectural work of the ancient India.
Visit these caves before it existence becomes a mere history.

Udayagiri And Khandagiri Caves, Bhubaneshwar Reviews
Archaeological Site having caves. Good place for outing with friends and family. The caves are really beautiful and worth the time spend. No stalls or food is available inside, so its better to carry food and water. It may be tiring for some people because there are many high stones and stairs to climb but there are benches to rest too.
Nice place ..Nice enjoyment of cool air.beautiful place &work on stone.nice park also. available of sitting place. superb place to enjoy the sunshine & nature.but lack of drinking water.somethings need to be improved so that it can more better for tourist.
The ancient caves sculptures can be well appreciated @ this wonderful place. It's must watch for children to know our rich cultural heritage. The caves are well maintained and localities are very cooperative. Usually it takes 4-5 hours to fully appreciate entire caves and November- December are best time for visit.
These are the very old cave and tell us about the living of human in the peace. There are 14 main cave may be more every cave have a story. This place is good for Pictures. We like cave no 1 where many more in the cave and engrave many story on the gate of cave. Loved the place.
Gives a glimpse of Jain Culture. Nicely carved rocks for meditation and a lot of other marvels. Place is very tidy and maintained. Please beware of the monkeys, especially refrain from feeding them, or else they can snatch any thing from you. The parking fee over here is highly arbitrary.
