The Lichtenthal Abbey - Review

A Cistercian nunnery, the Lichtenthal Abbey was founded in the year 1245 by Irmengard of Baden, also known as Countess Palatine Irmengard of the Rhine. It is said that the widow overstretched herself financially in order to set up this nunnery. Today the abbey belongs to Mehrerau Congregation and Mother Maria Bernadette Hein, the 46th is abbesses it. Along with teaching nuns, the abbey is home to a great works of handicrafts. The structure itself is beautiful building that will raise your curiosity the minute you spot it.
