Located in the Sherburne County, the Sand Dunes Forest is located three miles west of Zimmerman and 5 miles north of Big Lake. Boating, Horseback riding, Camping, Canoeing, Kayaking, Panfish Fishing, Hunting, and Swimming –the forest offers something for everyone. In Winter months, there is a thick cover of snow and the whole area turns out to be a perfect site for snowshoeing and snowmobiling. The Bob Dunn Recreation Area is equipped with a 36-unit Ann Lake Campground and Sand Dunes Horse Camp. These are day-use area and are very popular in Summer months. 4 miles of Cross-Country Skiing, Hiking, Mountain Biking and many other trails are spread around the forest. The Savanna Forest and Prairie landscape along with 2700 acres of Pine plantations combined together create this forest that is a perfect getaway option.
