Gajner Palace - Review

Gajner Palace (Heritage) is a luxury hotel located in the middle of the Thar Desert, along the banks of the Ganjer Lake in the middle of the Ganjer Wildlife Sanctuary. Built by HH Maharaja Sir Ganga Singh of Bikaner in the earlier 20th century, this palace-hotel is divided into four wings: Dungar Niwas, Mandir Chowk, Gulab Niwas and Champa Niwas. Spread over 6000 acres of land, this hotel was primarily a hunting resort during the days of the British Raj. The palace was converted into a hotel in 1976 and has 13 historic suits and 32 deluxe rooms. This palace-hotel has reputedly won the prestigious National Tourism Award in the Heritage Category and rightly so! Carefully restored to its original grandeur, this hotel gives attention to detail right from the wallpaper, to the flower pot placement to the furniture, and four-poster beds and picturesque windows. Visit this hotel-palace to soak in its grand allure.

  • Its a beautiful place to go on a family trip. Situated in a large area with a nice lake view. Service is good as it's too expensive for its own good. Food for dinner was good but breakfast was not up to the expectations. The only problem is that its expensive unless you are in a mood to feel like you are from some sort of a Royal family.

  • Good historical place. Nice hotel too. But the staff lacks proper hotel training, although they are polite enough. And poor services provided by the hotel too. I stayed there for 2 weeks.

  • A mid size palace between a wild life sanctuary and a lake, which is now been converted into a heritage hotel. Very cool and peaceful place. You can book your rooms for stay in around 7K. You can get a waiver on the entry fee if you dine in their restaurant. Food is expensive. Boating charges is 300₹ per person. Palace is Good for photography. Good going there with family and couples.

  • Amazing property. Very neat and clean rooms and some amazing hospitality. Food is just amazing and you would not feel the need to go anywhere once you are inside. Lush green property and despite being on the lake it is well maintained. Kids have enough activity like table tennis, carrom, boating etc. and will remain busy within themselves. One word of caution though i.e. height of the wall is very low for the balconies on the the first floor and kids need to managed accordingly. Best part very weak mobile signals so you will have a lot of personal time :)

  • Great ambience. A lakeside palace converted into a hotel. Very peaceful oasis in the middle of the desert. A paradise for bird watchers as a wide variety of birds congregate at the lake. Worth the long drive just for having a coffee at the lakeside restaurant. A must visit place for anyone visiting Bikaner.
