A temple built by a local merchant named Bhandasa Oswal in whose honour the temple is named. It was built sometime during 1468 and a local legend says that it was built with 40,000kg of ghee (clarified butter) instead of mortar. It has three levels and has a traditional Jain architecture. Inside the temple are beautiful murals and paintings of celestial beings. The temple is dedicated to the 5ththirthankar in the Jain tradition, ‘Sumatinathji’. • From outside, it looks an ordinary place but, as one enters, the beauty of the amazing artwork reveals itself. One should positively visit this temple if planning to go Bikaner. The priests are serving for 37 generations and would tell the interesting story about temple to devotees.

  • More than 500 years old temple. Even before establishment of Bikaner city. Very colourful interior. Absolutely no crowd when we visited in February.

  • If compared to Ranakpur or Mt Abu this temple is not that huge. Been said that this is a very beautiful temple with excellent carvings. This temple was build using 350 quintals of ghee and in extreme summer ghee still gets dropped from ceiling. Worth visiting. Preferably go by small car or auto as the approach road is congested as well as not so wide

  • The guardian of the temple (who also do the restoring and conservation work) is so kindly and wise.

  • It is one of the beautiful places of heritage city Bikaner & the best architectural part from inside & outside that anybody can see there...Love this placeūüėć
