Jain Temple Bhandasar - Review

A temple built by a local merchant named Bhandasa Oswal in whose honour the temple is named. It was built sometime during 1468 and a local legend says that it was built with 40,000kg of ghee (clarified butter) instead of mortar. It has three levels and has a traditional Jain architecture. Inside the temple are beautiful murals and paintings of celestial beings. The temple is dedicated to the 5ththirthankar in the Jain tradition, ‘Sumatinathji’. From the third floor you can catch a beautiful panoramic view of the entire Bikaner city.

Jain Temple Bhandasar, Bikaner Reviews

  • Impeccable art inside the temple..must visit place. This is a 400 year old Jain temple just located besides Lakshmi Nathji Temple. Legend has is it that the material for building this temple is included 500 tonnes of Desi Ghee for the foundation. This temple in the blazing heat of May and June throws an aroma of Pure Ghee. you can literally smell it inside the temple. The sculptures inside the temple can give you goosebumps. There is absolutely no mercy given in detailing. you can count the details and yet the details will count your imagination less brain.

  • An liveable art in side .in built time of temple ghee is used in place of water.

  • Must see in Bikaner. Stunning colour and paintings. Very old but well kept. The priest inside is amazing and he can tell you all about the temple and Jain religion.
