George E. Ohr called himself the "Mad Potter of Biloxi". The five-building museum is dedicated to pottery and creamics. Not only does the museum promote ceramic education, the campus itself had won awards for it’s unique and self-sufficient architecture. The main exhibits showcase the works of George but there’s other stuff to catch too, such as:

• The Native Guard: A Photographic History of Ship Island’s African American Regiment.
• My House:  The Pleasant Reed Story – The story of an African American slave who built his own house.
• The Gallery of African American Art.
• The Mississippi Sound Welcome Centre.

Fun fact: When Katrina struck, an entire casino barge was washed onto the half-built museum’s property.

Also famous on the museum campus is the ancient oak tree.
