  • I love this beautiful place - it is the most wonderful home away from home. My four years went by so fast! Get involved, go to games, get that degree!

  • I went to Virginia Tech, and I can tell you this school has very bad things, and very good things. The bad: there are far more guys than girls at this school. The girls that are there are not very good looking (nerdy girls), there are never enough girls at parties, it is cold/windy/cloudy, the town of blacksburg itself really sucks, the faculty is very short and not helpful i found mostly, especially toward my graduation. At the parties, usually it was a group of ugly girls being hit on by many guys (I have to tell the truth here) with all the guys just getting drunk together. If you're a girl, maybe its great. the student body in general i would not describe as friendly, not even cool even. Too many people do not drink there. The good: food is the best in the entire world. The classes themselves are good, it will make you educated and smart, football games are fun. The bad #2: first day of class was canceled, because there was a convict loose near the campus, who committed a murder. There were also two other incidents of murder that year, one being the big 30 people shooting, and another a decapitation of one student from another in a cafeteria. For some reason I stuck with vtech. At my orientation, the group i was with almost totally did not drink alcohol, which i was so surprised at, being at a big college. It is characteristic of the school: most people do not drink, do not party, and do not have sex (I know). It is cold, COLD in the winter, the sun also does not shine very often at tech. depressing. Every day of my life now i literally think about how I should not have gone this school. I have exactly 1 person i still keep up with from my time there. They were very very not good at job resources toward the end of my graduation. I was surprised, because this was my main reason for going, because it was such a big alumni and wealthy alum to get jobs. but I ended up getting a job from a family member back in my hometown. I did not really find a warm and comforting environment when i was there. About half the school is from the same location (north va) and are influenced by the political environment of washington dc (aka rude people), and have large friend groups already. I took some good classes and learned some good things when i was there, and had some fun experiences. Fun snow adventures in the winter. there is really nothing to do in the town itself, and they stop selling alcohol before 12. clubs- forget it. The football games however are really fun. And the basketball games i went to were really fun, too. I have not been back once since i graduated, and probably won't for a long time. There is a tow company there that is vicious, and the tow lot is miles and miles from the town, so you have to go all the way there every time, and pay a ridiculous sum, because they take advantage of wealthy people, and go out specifically to tow and ruin people's days. To top it off, this is a small thing, but at the exit to get into vtech from the highway, there is no other exit after it for like 10 miles on the highway. so if you miss the little turn you have to keep driving for like 20 minutes just to get back.

  • WARNING: Do not attend institution if economically disadvantaged, minority, or not from the state of Virginia. This following institution's primary population is white upper middle class children, who are from Northern-VA suburbia, and spend time drinking. If not interested in following activity, making friends will be hard The institution is marketed as "home away from home" since majority of population is from suburbia of Virginia. The only "diversity" aspect pertains to international students from Asian countries, and the institution markets it as "underrepresented" Education is subpar due to majority of endowment accumulated from research, which deters from teaching students fundamental principles and leading to budget cuts into their education (Ex: Math Emporium) Place is also not safe, bomb threat happened in Newman Library during finals week and shooting occurred in a residential community. The institution did not make it a priority to inform parents on such events. Residential community rent prices are increasing near the college town due to influx of student population, since the current administration wants to increase population by 5k each year. Traffic has finally become traffic in Blacksburg. Do not be influenced by the architecture. If accepted to institution do not attend.

  • I love the feel of the campus. It is beautiful, both horticulturally and architecturally. It feels like home.

  • Save your money if you’re out of state. They treat you like a second-class citizen. They are not attentive to any issues or request. Totally nonresponsive and apathetic! Save your money! My son got attacked in the area and the school didn’t help at all!!! . Beware, check the police record of incidents/assaults in the area!
