Basilica San Francesco Or Chiesa Di San Francesco - Review
The church of St. Francis is beautiful example of Gothic-Romanesque architecture, being the first example of French-gothic style in Italy. Structured with a remarkably high facade and interiors housing marvellous statues in white marble the church is as charming as it can get!
To the right of the facade are a convent and a cloister, dedicated to San Francis. The cloister is a very pleasing atmosphere; it is a captivating blend of many architectural styles from middle ages to pagan era!
The church’s extremely expressive architecture along with the peaceful aura is a perfect escapade from the hustle of the city. If you are on look for the tranquillity, musical evenings held here are a must visit for you.

Basilica San Francesco Or Chiesa Di San Francesco, Bologna Reviews
It is a stunning Basilica and I would have loved to see inside but it was locked up behind beautiful doors, with no information for tourists about how to visit inside if they would like to.
As a student in Bologna, I know this place because so many of the younger generation would spend the night in front of this Basilica, I have spent my share of time on the benches close to this place and I’ve been in the bars surrounding the environment. If you go with your friends in the crowded night, or in the day, you will have different valuable experiences. There may be some people there that sell beer but as for the rest of the city your interaction with them is up to yourself.
This is another illustration that using tours is not necessarily the best way to go. Although the place and the garden looked great, our tour guide did not get us time to enjoy the place and limited the story to a few phrase. Given that it is on the way, stop by and take the customary picture of the church and the square but otherwise, really underwhelming interior. Not a must-see even in the Coloane area unless you are there already.
A towering cathedral who's construction was restricted by Rome to avoid it being greater than St Peters. Interesting interior but possibly less ornate than similar cathedrals elsewhere in Italy.
Wonderful gothic church
