As any good sacred destination lover will know, church towers aren’t supposed to stand separately from their churches (in this case the St. Andre’s Cathedral). This one does, because it’s also a belfry, and with such awesomely strong bells that it was thought that the church wouldn’t be able to withstand them ringing. 50 metre high and flamboyantly Gothic, it also hoists a statue of Eleanor, Our lady of Aquitaine. Climb up the 231 steps for a stunning view of the city. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Bordeaux itinerary 1 day.

Incredible view at the top of the tower! It blew me away how beautiful the city is. A must-see Bordeaux attraction. And it's free for EU residents who are 18-25.
You go up a seemingly infinite tight staircase, passing by some locked doors with occasional peek at some bells, to arrive at a first platform with interesting history about all the monuments you can see in a 360° range. The second platform is a few meters above. Both give a very nice and unique view of the city !
220 steps (I think) so quite out of breath! Worthwhile to see a good view of the city, but there was an extremely long wait (with just two of us we had to wait over half an hour) because it's a one in one out policy - so it's a long wait for a short time of actually walking up the tower!
Free to enter for EU students, 6 EUR adult ticket. Absolutely perfect view
Spectacular views. I recommend!!
