Utopia - Review
It’s not often that a simple cinema is a famous landmark, so when it happens there has to be something special going on. In this case, it’s the old fashioned charm of the place. Breaking away from the typical cinema decoration that plays off glitz and glamour, Utopia looks more like a laid-back theatre. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting; the movie tickets are cheap; the popcorn is to die for; and the world movies are all in their original language with French subtitles. It’s a cinephile’s wet dream. Oh, and that laid back building you’re in? It was once a church. If ever there was temple to films, this is it! Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Bordeaux itinerary 1 day.

Utopia, Bordeaux Reviews
I adore this place for many reasons: 1. The building itself is an ex-church that located in the old city, not far away from Rue Sainte Catherine. 2. There is a café inside, so while waiting till the film starts, you can take a cup of coffee and eat a croissant 🥐 3. There only films in original languages with French subtitles, so you can feel authenticity. 4. The films there are usually low-budget, prize winning and art-house films 5. It’s very cheap, especially for students
Nice and cozy indipendent old fashioned cinema with movies in original language and subtitles, it has a nice bar/bistrot
One of the most famous movie theaters in the world. It was super cosy and you can still see the leftovers from the church. Definitely a must visit while in Bordeaux!
The cafe was disappointing. Even tho the place's deco is cool being inside of an old church... the staff is just not good enough. Bad mood young girl that was pissed of serving us. Normal coffee. Shared small toilets.
Excellent independent cinéma based in a converted church. The screens aren't big but the quality is great and the seats are really comfy.
