Standing on the Poggio hilltop, the Castello Di San Giorgio or St Geroge’s Castle dates back to 14th century. With its magnanimous structure and museum featuring artefacts and sculptures, the castle speaks on behalf of the history of La Spezia city. This Genoese military fortification can be accessed by the Via XXVII Marzo that crosses the old walls set up to defend the inhabitants. Going through restoration for more than a decade, the Castello Di San Giorgio showcases lots of Roman specimens of history that will tell you about the cit. The most stunning feature of the castle is however the magnificent view stretched to miles from the top. The climb to the top can be strenuous but the view will remove all the fatigue.
