Botswana Overview

Representing the perfect union of Kalahamari Desert and the Okavango Delta, Botswana is one of the most under rated tourist destinations of South Africa. A Botswana travel guide consists of various wildlife sighting opportunities. If a wildlife safari destination is on your mind, then well Botswana is often claimed to be one of the best options for the aforementioned activity. The large stretch of wilderness and the perfect contrast between the Desert and Delta is what makes this country so special.

Visa Procedure

The Visa procedure to Botswana is pretty straight forward. No citizen requires to go through the hassle of procuring a visa in advance as they are given on arrival. The visa on arrival is issued within no time and is valid for a good 30 days. The only main criterion is to have a passport that is valid for the estimated duration of your stay.

When to go

Even though the best time to visit Botswana weather wise is from the months of July to October, the availability of accommodation and low travel prices is a rarity during this season. You will have a very hard time getting a campsite during this season as they are booked well in advance. The months of April, May and November are pleasant too but the monsoons get unpredictable and might be a hindrance in your adventure plans.

Directly entering Botswana through Air from anywhere other than South Africa is definitely going to result into a hole in your pocket. But an easier answer to the question- How to reach Botswana is through Nambia or through any connecting flight in the main airports of South Africa. Entering by land is an option too, but it is extremely expensive and is not very safe either.

Hotels and Food

You have to book lodges well in advance as the season for campsites mostly results in overbooked accommodations. Even though the accommodation is cheap, it would cost you a 10-15 dollars to get a decent one. The food in Botswana is amazing and dishes that you should definitely not miss out on are Seswaa, Pap, Morogo,  Goat Meat Stew, Braai Meat, Ditloo amongst many others.
