This 100meter long pier is said to be the first pier of Bournemouth, built between 1855 and 1856 by Samuel Ingram. At first, the pier was constructed with wood. However, it was damaged because of storms. Later in 1861, the pier was reconstructed with timber wood. Again, due to frequent attacks of the storm and woodboring beetle, the pier got weakend and had to be closed down. By this time, Bournemouth has already started to become a popular destination for many tourists. Soon in 1880, the pier was once again reconstructed with iron. Since then, it has become a popular tourist spot for both the locals as well as the tourists. Walk down to the end of the pier to get the best view of the sea. Standing at that point, you can feel the sea breeze brushing over your face and leaving a pleasant smile on your lips. Wander along the pier and you will come across many hand-made instruments lined along the route. These handcrafted instruments were specially made for the pier visitors. Try to play a tune on one of those instruments. Else hire a rowing boat to take a tour on the sea.

It’s always nice to stroll along a pier and Bournemouth is a good one. You can shelter if the wind is blowing and also get some good views of the surfers and bodyboarders when the waves are good. For the brave their is also a zipwire option back to the beach. Note in the winter it is free to walk onto the pier but a small charge in the summer.
It was so nice had a lovely drink in the cafe at the end of the pier
Wonderful place to visit, especially with kids. There is a variety of rides to keep children (or adults!) entertained. Perfect for your day out at the seaside!
We went as a first trip after our baby was born Sandy beach, beautiful location. Hotels were fantastic I will leave a review about hotel but the pier itself is beautiful the local council are doing so much to protect the area and ensure it is clean and safe. There was a not a speck of litter or rubbish around and I hope my photos will show that the beach was lovely and there is a fish and chip shop just across the beach which sells excellent chips! The rides are perfect and at night there is so much do for couples who just want to stroll and relax. We travelled by car parking is difficult and expensive but I would recommend paying for parking online which is cheaper. Our hotel informed us that we should do this and it was. A good idea. Plenty of things to do and lovely environment lots of music in all the restraints and bars. The hotels have crèches if you need to use them but we were more comfortable taking our baby with us.
Very good food and service
