Surrounding the marshy areas created by Kingfisher Pond, Stony Brook Pond and Teal Marsh, the Mass Audubon's Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary is a pristine nature retreat rich in biodiversity. Deciduous tree laden avenues, wild flora laden boardwalks, wetlands, canopy of forestry through which the sunbeams drop the spotlight and the magnificent Fall colours –all these can be found in Mass Audubon's Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary. The site once was used by an 18th century mill and now you can see here the thriving flora and fauna, especially those which flourish under or around water, such as the frogs and turtles. Sprawling over 104 acres, the sanctuary has over two miles of trail –All Persons Trail and a butterfly garden adjacent the Nature center. The Nature Play Area with its climbing, hiding and free play structures is perfect for kids.
