Deriving its name from Bill McKechnie, the former Pirates manager, the Mckechnie Field was established in 1962 as a baseball field. In 2017, the Mckechnie Field changed its name to LECOM Park (Lake Eerie College of Osteopathic Medicine). It is used by the Pittsburgh Pirates as the springtime training center and a premier venue for major and minor league baseball games. The stadium is one of the oldest in the country and has a nostalgic appeal to many baseball enthusiasts and traditionalists.
