Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (), doing business as Walmart, is an American multinational retailing corporation that operates as a chain of hypermarkets, discount department stores, and grocery stores. Headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas, the company was founded by Sam Walton in 1962 and incorporated on October 31, 1969. As of January 31, 2017, Walmart has 11,695 stores and clubs in 28 countries, under a total of 63 banners. The company operates under the name Walmart in the United States and Canada. It operates as Walmart de México y Centroamérica in Mexico and Central America, as Asda in the United Kingdom, as the Seiyu Group in Japan, and as Best Price in India. It has wholly owned operations in Argentina, Chile, Brazil, and Canada. It also owns and operates the Sam's Club retail warehouses. Walmart is the world's largest company by revenue – approximately $480 billion according to the Fortune Global 500 list in 2016 – as well as the largest private employer in the world with 2.3 million employees. It is a family-owned business, as the company is controlled by the Walton family. Sam Walton's heirs own over 50 percent of Walmart through their holding company, Walton Enterprises, and through their individual holdings. Walmart is also one of the world's most valuable companies by market value, and is also the largest grocery retailer in the U.S. In 2016, 62.3 percent of Walmart's US$478.614 billion sales came from its U.S. operations. The company was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1972. By 1988, Walmart was the most profitable retailer in the U.S., and by October 1989, it had become the largest in terms of revenue. Geographically limited to the South and lower Midwest up to the mid-1980s, by the early-1990s, the company's presence spanned from coast to coast‍—‌Sam's Club opened in New Jersey in November 1989 and the first California outlet opened in Lancaster in July 1990. A Walmart in York, Pennsylvania opened in October 1990, bringing the main store to the Northeast. Walmart's investments outside North America have seen mixed results: its operations in the United Kingdom, South America, and China are highly successful, whereas ventures in Germany and South Korea have failed.

Walmart Supercenter, Branson Reviews - Write a Review

  • I must take a moment to tell you how amazing the entire staff is at my local Walmart. Every single employee smiles at me and says, "Hello" or "How are you?" The people at the cash registers are very patient in troublesome situations such as debit cards not working. Screaming babies are also taken in stride and I never hear an employee complain about anything. I enjoy chatting with the people who scan my items and they are able to multitask with ease; we can talk about the weather or new products and they never stop scanning! I usually visit Walmart during the day when the store is mostly filled with elderly people. The employees are especially kind to them and help out in any way possible. In the self-service check out area, the people working there are also so kind and quick to help. In a world where negativity prevails, I want to extend my appreciation to the management of my Branson Walmart store.

  • Good selection, but it should have as it is a large Walmart. Is normally clean and well-stocked. Even when busy I can almost always find a good parking spot. Go just for the crazy Branson local and tourist people-watching. Seriously, you'll feel like a very normal human being after shopping there. Know those websites where people post photos of Walmart shoppers that are, well let's say, very interesting? I feel as though 90% might come from this location. I still really like this Walmart! It is one of the largest in the southwest Missouri area and has a different selection of items than most because it also caters to a touristy crowd along with the locals.

  • Drove 45 minutes to store with shopping list we checked out on store website. Don't have items in store and the items that was in store was priced at a higher price . Would not honor their own website prices after spending a hour in the store talking to 2 managers. They said it was a error on the website. Not going back to be suckered in again

  • Picked up item ordered online. Did not really shop there. Store was busy and well laid out. Pickup point near checkout lines so did not have to wander store looking

  • I wish there was a negative star rating for this store. The customer service is non existent and even in the face of published ads they refuse to honor prices (looking at you Russell). Horrible.
