The Casa Muresenilor is the place of Jacob Muresianu- a professor and member of the Romanian Academy who became the founding editor of the newspaper Gazeta Transilvaniei in the 1850’s. The house was donated by the descendants of the Muresian family in 1968 to keep Jacob Muresianu’s vision alive and to showcase the history of the family.
But more than the family history itself, you get to see documents and lifestyles of the people of the city. Today, it also preserves and promote the culture and heritage of Romania.
The entire house has the original furnishings, paintings, sculptures, décor items and an archive consisting of over 25,000 documents! You can find documents related to the history of the Awakening Romanian hymn- a piece that is important to the heritage value of the city. The place maintains over 50 years of correspondence letters and documents along with historic family heirlooms and personal memorabilia. To make the best of your visit, do opt for a guided tour of the place.
