Resembling the Greek church in Vienna, the Catedrala Ortodoxa Adormirea Maicii Domnului was built in 1894 by using donations from 114 families that resided in Brasov. A burst of colours welcomes you into the church with gorgeously decorated interiors complete with a golden main altarpiece, intricately designed domes and ceiling, dainty chandeliers and wooden panels that cover the entire height of the side walls. The Byzantine architecture and design of the place has made it one of the most beautiful churches in the city!

The main altar steal the show with gorgeous frescoes held by ornately decorated metal frames but look closer and you see that the entire church is an art piece in itself! See the high arches at the entrance, the central nave, the carpets and the humble seating area and you have time-travelled to another world all together! The church does have concerts on special days and if you can, do make sure you catch a performance here.
