The Saint Peter and Paul Roman-Catholic Cathedral is the only Baroque styled structure in the city. The church was built in the 18th century with the help of empress Maria Theresa on the grounds of what used to be a cherubic monastery. The church has a clock tower at the entrance and is a landmark in itself.

The interiors of the church are a pleasure to see with a beautiful carved main altar, side altars that are gilded and consist of beautiful paintings and statues, stunning stained-glass windows and a church organ that was built in Timisoara. The church has 14 paintings that depict the Stations of the Cross. Walk in to see the beautiful arches that form a major part of its construction, detailed decorated ceilings, chandeliers, beautiful majestic columns and the art pieces that compliment the church. The tranquillity of the place beckon visitors to stay a little longer while art lovers can spend an hour or so admiring the church as well.

Saint Peter And Paul Roman-catholic Cathedral Reviews & Ratings

  • A nice church in the town. It is very beautiful.

  • One of the most mystically inspiring experiences.

  • We've tried to visit several times but it seems to be closed every day except Sunday. The hours are not posted anywhere. At least they leave the door open you can peek inside. If you go on a Sunday beware that they have a lot of weddings there.

  • It's a Catholic church. Beautiful outside. It was closed.
