Bratislava Castle - Review
The Bratislava Castle dates back to 907 AD and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. The place was built overlooking the Danube river and you can see Austria (also Hungary on a clear day) from the Castle itself.
Originally built as a part of fortification for the city’s defense, today the building serves as a collection of the Slovak National Museum, exhibition of the region’s treasures and as a Museum of history.

If in Bratislava, you must come here. Its such a beautiful place to visit and the restaurant at the top serves quality food and wine, with views of the city. The castle itself has a lot to see and a number of areas to visit. We were on a stag do in the city, but we all made an effort to visit here in a respectful way. Well worth a couple of hours of your day.
This is a spectacular castle up on the hill above town. It's about a 15 minute walk from the main town square, or you can drive up as well. We walked up the side by the river. It's not wheelchair accessible! Not sure if it might be from the car-Park side. The castle itself has beautiful gardens on the back, and old (original?) walls on the front. We didn't go inside. It was quite busy when we were there (early Sept) but was still fine to walk around. The views of the town below are superb. There aren't really any services up there. There is a bathroom (Water Closet) available, tucked back in one of the squares - I believe it cost 0.70 Euro. If you like walking and have a couple hours to spare it's highly recommended.
A beautiful castle on a hill, perched above the Danube. Relatively recently restored, with beautiful gardens that are always open. The gardens have a very monumental/baroque look, with many people, even in Slovakia, thinking the photos were from Vienna. A lovely place with great views of Bratislava!
Impressive in its own way, but don’t expect too much! A good guided tour will enrich your experience of visiting this castle and will tell you the history of it rather than just roaming for fun. Its not as good as Prague or Vienna castle but, you have come this far to Bratislava, I don’t think you have a reason not to visit it! Worth a visit if you are already in Bratislava. The city view from the castle is great. You can walk around the castle and the gardens are perfect picture place. Don’t miss to go to the garden they have. A very nicely maintained place.
Really interesting and spacious castle....lots of info on the rebuilding in recent years. Super tower views....many many steps! Lovely gardens. Great exhibition of advert posters through the years. Not a suit of armour in sight! We got in free on the first sunday of the month....but well worth the small fee anyway.
