The Bratislava Castle dates back to 907 AD and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. The place was built overlooking the Danube river and you can see Austria (also Hungary on a clear day) from the Castle itself.
Originally built as a part of fortification for the city’s defense, today the building serves as a collection of the Slovak National Museum, exhibition of the region’s treasures and as a Museum of history.

Bratislava Castle , Bratislava Reviews - Write a Review
It's the first place i visited in Slovakia with my friends and the experience was awesome. The day when I visit it, there was a strong and heavy wind. It was freezing cold almost and it started raining, then we saw the rainbow and it was big and full rainbow. I added that here, do visit the place and enjoy
Went there on a day trip from Vienna. All the historical places were easily accessible on foot if you don't mind walking. Pretty craft shops in areas surrounding the castle and an interesting coffee shop with lovely chocolates (has to be noted, chocolate is the food of the goddesses!). The castle has wonderful views but I didn't go inside as time didn't allow. The trip was very enjoyable and we'll worth the short train journey.
While touring Europe, we took advantage of our location to take a day in Bratislava. Less than ideal weather aside, we didn't find much to romanticize about, including this castle. Although it stands quite visible in the city, in essence is is totally rebuilt in exception for a few cornerstones and/or wall (which are proudly pointed out while there). This is testament to the city and country to rebuild a once crown jewel, it is not worth really visiting as its not really authentic nor carries any fascination. I gave it two stars as it has a nice view and gave me a chance to learn something about a place I didn't know.
Very nice castle, recently refurbished and quite impressive. Huge garden and grounds, lovely to walk around there! Very well signposted. Definitely a must see!
Beautiful views... best place in Bratislava to visit.. tip- go in the morning in a sunny day and spend some time roaming around.. wont be disappointed!
