Consecrated in the 13th century, the Franciscan Church is the oldest religious building in Bratislava. The church was built by King Ladislaus IV of Hungary after his victory over the Czech King (Premysl) Ottokar II of Bohemia and was constructed with classic Gothic architecture.
The architecture of the church was molded into Renaissance style in the 17th century and later in the 18th century to classic Baroque style. Many people were given the Title of Knights at this very place and many Kings take pride in its formation.
Today, the church is a classic example of timeless art, religious influences on Bratislava and its old-world charm.

The Franciscan Church is the oldest existing religious building in the Old Town of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. The church was consecrated in the year 1297 in the presence of King Andrew III of Hungary. In the past, the church building served for larger gatherings of townspeople or Hungarian nobles. A great place to visit.
