About Napoleon's Army Soldier Statue, Bratislava

The bronze statue located at the main square of the Old Town is a tribute to a soldier named ‘Hubert’ who while walking through the town, fell in love with a local girl, stayed here and began producing sparkling wine instead!

A love story with a little bit of quirk, Hubert leans on a bench where you can take a pic with him to make your walk through the city more memorable.

  • Part of the charm of Bratislava. According to the legend, this Napoleon's soldier (Napoleon and his army were in Bratislava in 1805) is supposed to have been going through Bratislava when he fell in love with a local girl, stayed in the city and became a producer of sparkling wine. His name was Hubert – which is also the name of Slovakia’s most popular sparkling wine’s brand...

  • Took break from our walk about around the city..had coffee & bagels at the square.. just lovely!

  • Romantic and beautiful. Unforgettable memories.

  • Very good idea, you can make photos and use the bench at the same time!

  • Bratislava had so many statues, all worth a visit if you're strolling through Old Town. Great opportunity for holiday photo
