Bregenz Tourism

This is one of the nicest towns on the Bodensee (Lake Constance). The mountain Phander towers over it. It’s one of Austria’s richest, friendliest cities. Settled since 5th century BC by the Celts (known then as Brigantion), Bregenz’s history has largely been uneventful. It’s a tiny town of less than 30,000 inhabitants.

Sightseeing-wise, Bregenz has a lot to offer to the pedestrian tourist. Its Old Town is divided into upper and lower towns, both of which are rich with splendid landmarks (such as the Tower of St. Martin and the Sacred Heart Church), winding alleys, and half-timbered houses. The main tourist attraction though, is the Lake Promenade, a place of stunning sunsets and many stimulating conversations. One activity you absolutely should not leave out of your vacation itinerary planners is the Phander! A cool cable car ride will take you up to some terrific restaurants, and live exhibition on birds of prey, and a bountiful game park. There’s also a tiny family friendly beach – the Strandbad.
