Undersea Gardens, Brentwood Bay Reviews
It was an exceptional tourist attraction centrally-located with lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. I am 44 now and had gone to Undersea Gardens every year of my life. They participated in "Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown"! Offering, sporadic, annual passes for $2.00!
Definitely not worth your time or money. While this may have been quite the attraction in years gone by (I don't know), it just doesn't compete with other offerings nearby, nor does it live up to expectations that have changed in the last 20 years or so. Let's face it, what amazed and mesmerized in the 70's and 80's likely won't get a second glance today. I had been before and knew it was a rip-off, but my girlfriend had never seen it, so I took her, telling her that the live show was the only redeeming part of it. Well, we arrived, paid our $25, and went down the stairs into darkness. Due to lack of light and the murkiness of the water, it was next to impossible to see the fish. Still, we peered through the glass and bided our time until the beginning of the show, which runs every hour on the hour. We arrived at 6:45, so it wasn't a long wait. Well, at 7:05, an employee came down to tell us that it was time to leave because they closed at 7. Now, shame on me for not checking the closing time before I went in, but who expects attractions to close so early in the summer, and what kind of "attraction" allows you to pay full price, knowing you will have 15 minutes to look around and no live show, without at least warning you? Seriously, steer clear of this one and spend you money on something better. Hopefully the plug will get pulled on this scam soon enough.
Overpriced and not well maintained. It was nice to see the fish, but there are too many in little aquariums with none of the plant life, and very little of the anemone's, sea feathers, sea cucumbers, feather dusters etc. that would make this aquarium interesting. The end show was okay, but he could not find any of the octopus.
Great location...terrible price! Not really worth the $$$ they charge to get in. Yeah, the kids will like it....but take them to the Bug Zoo instead.
Expensive. Not a whole lot to see. Do not recommend.
