George Washington House - Review
Named after the famous political personality who occupied this 18th century plantation house, the George Washington House was where a teenage George Washington and his younger brother were said to be treated for tuberculosis on the island. In fact, it’s believed that the treatment here is said to have stood him in such good stead thatduring his revolution, when other around him were bogged down by the ailment, he was one of the unaffected few.
Since 2007, the Washington House has been open to the public and it’s been attracting an impressive number of visitors. While the upper level of the house has been transformed into a museum that has an impressive collection of what life was in the 18th century. The lower level along with the kitchen are preserved with all their original furnishings.

George Washington House, Bridgetown Reviews
Beautiful grounds and building. Very helpful and friendly staff who always had a smile and happy to help. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and I'd highly recommend braving the tunnel tour.
A must, for history lovers. Helped by the great film, and the guided tour. There is also a interesting museum at the top of the house. Spent about 2 hours there, I do like to read all information.
The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxing; of course when you're on vacation in Barbados! When visiting in the island, this is something that is a MUST. Depending on how much of a history buff you are, this is like heaven on earth for American history and especially how it connects with Barbados. It gives you a lot of background on the history of George Washington, his brother Lawrence and the plantations. It also goes into detail with a movie and a tour of the tunnels that connected the house to the Garrison. Great experience; awesome tour guide with the voice of a God!
Very nice museum and very well taken care of! The admission price includes a guided tour in English, and the script is even available in other foreign languages. Only the additional $10 for the tunnels are not worth it imo, as the guided "tour" just lasts like 10min. So I'd recommend just going for the George Washington House and read online about the tunnels.
Great place to visit, tour guides went above and beyond to give a tour even though the tours had ended. Thanks so much
