The bells of this beautiful and old cathedral chime at 11, not 12, perhaps the only church to do in the world. The legend goes that during the 30 years war, the Swedish invaders promised to let up their siege of the city if they failed to capture it by noon – so some cunning citizen chimed the bell an hour early on the 15th of August, successfully fooling the aggressors into withdrawing. Amusing anecdotes aside, the cathedral is one of the most important pieces of architecture in the country. Its interiors are Baroque, but the slender 84 metre tall towers are the best viewpoint in the whole city are Gothic Revival. This lovely sight that looks over Brno is made even more prominent thanks to the Church’s position on top of a hill. It’s hard to miss if you want to visit – the place pretty much dominates the skyline.

Located on top of a hill, looking out over the old town, the vegetable market and the old town hall, stands this charming and pretty church. There are many interesting and pretty things to see, in the crypt as well as inside the church. We walked around the church, looked out over the town from the little panorama deck, went inside, which is very nicely decorated and well maintained. There is also an adoration chapel, separated from the nave by glass doors, for some quiet introspection. Very nice visit.
It is just amazingly beautiful. Inside you can feel peaceful for real. I used google maps to get there, and it was very easy. The city center itself is very good for walking, you can almost do everything walking, no need for taxis or public transportation. Nearby, you'll be able to find more religious places full of history.
Proud to have visited here. Absolutely awesome part of Moravian Heritage.
Amazing architecture! Definitely a hidden jewel in Europe, of you get a chance to spend some time in Brno make sure you take your time and enjoy this gorgeous place!
Climb the stairs and find a moment to think about those words written on the front facade of the cathedral and then you may walk down the city and see this ship on the hill above the traffic of Koliste street and still have this moment of peace in your mind Mt 11.28 venite ad me omnes qui laboratis et onerati estis et ego reficiam vos
