The Mahen Theatre is a Neoclassical Renaissance theatre with ornate neo-Baroque Interior and Colonna dated facade. This Czech performing arts theatre was opened in 1882 and boast of being among the first public houses in the world lit by electric lights. It is a protected cultural monument of Czech Republic and was known as the German City Theatre. Since its openings, the Mahen Theatre has been hosting extensive ballet ensemble, opera, and classic drama performances. Once a hot spot for performing the extraordinary works of Leos Janacek, it is now a historical building while the opera and other performances take place at the Janacek Theatre.
