  • As an ardent lover of meadow fescue & derivations thereof, I regularly pilgrimage to Parker's Piece to lavish myself in the lushness of its vivid verdant vastness. Was there ever a lawn more loved? I mean, was there? I'm drawn to PP, as we fans call it, ever since I was commissioned by the University to rid the place of its mole. Gather round. I remember the commission as if it were but yesterday. The Chancellor was puce with rage. His much loved piece was being trashed by a rodent, yet he had spent a college fortune on the upkeep of the grass. "when you catch it I want it dead, & I want it to suffer. Kill it in the most painful way possible". So it was I set about my endeavours. Every night for the next four months I laid in wait. Eventually I triumphed. Remembering my charge I considered drowning it. Too quick. I considered shooting it. It wasn't worth a bullet. I came close to throttling it but then it hit me. The best way to kill it in the most punitive way possible was blindingly simple. I buried the bugger alive.

  • Excellent Park for a rest or a picnic. Good amount of seating around the edges of the park. Good for cycling through if you are looking to go from the residential areas, shopping centres onto the more tourist areas in the centre of the city.

  • Open space/ park in the center of Cambridge. Good for public occasions and meetings. Very accessible from all directions of the city center. With bus station and train station near by.

  • Large Park/field. Extremely popular with tourists and students. Occasionally have fairs and events. Check the Cambridge Events website for more details. Usually good fun and good food.

  • A delightful place to let the dog go wild, to watch hulls glide down the Cam, to walk up to a cow ... whilst cursing the dog to taking a roll in poo puddles, or just to people watch. Vast in domain. Adjacent to other Cambridge green spaces, it is the wild sister.
