Gruuthuse Hof, Brugge Reviews
Everything about this restaurant is just great. The location, the view and more importantly the food. I had the tourist menu, which although most of the time in other restaurants you expect it to be a rip off, but this one was definitely worth the try with a great value for money. The salmon was perfectly cooked, as well as the pumpkin soup of the day and the signature homemade apple juice. I highly recommend this place.
Well, this place might be very alluring and does create an atmosphere around itself with reservations and blah blah blah. We were few of the "lucky" ones here one evening. We were pretty sure that the food will be superb (because we couldn't get here the night before - it was full) and the waiter seemed very friendly at first. But, after we told him that we will only order soup (me and my husband) and the waiter (and probably the owner)... well, he obviously needs a chill pill, considering the comments below. He just said: you know, that we can't allow people here order a soup only, this is a very popular respectable place, please don't do that again. Let's just say it was a polite way of telling us we take place of someone who could spend more money sitting in this small uncomfortable restaurant nearly getting on a lap of your neighbor. Then I realized that this guy was probably pissed at the waitress that was late (we saw her coming and apologizing on her way) and he might have had a bad day. But our mood was completely ruined too. And that soup sucked.
Fabulous mussels and great service!! I've been visiting Brugge off and on for 30 years, and this is an exceptional restaurant. A bit off the beaten path if you, like us, prefer to avoid the tourist restaurants.
Was lucky enought to get a table outside last night, it is always well booked up and it's not a big place. The meal was delicious (roast chicken) and the waitress and service charming. If I ever get organised enough to book in advance I'll definitely be going back.
We had a wonderful dinner here. The restaurant is very cozy, only a few tables, so be sure to make a reservation. The wait staff was superb. We had the cheese croquettes, the duck with peaches and raspberries, dover sole, and the Apple tart with ice cream. The duck was delicious, and the peaches were a great complement. The Apple pie was also amazing, with a unique cake like crust.
