Like a lot of other places, a lot of history of the world has been lost due to the unfortunate World War I and World War II. The long standing Budapest Operetta Theatre is an example of revival of history in the most artistic way possible. Before the break out of World War I, this place functioned as an Orpheum bar. This time was not only known as the golden age of entertainment but also as the golden age of peace for the arts. Today, it houses chandeliers and various other things that are about a 100 years old. Even though a lot of it was destroyed in the wars, this place was renovated and today stands as the hub dedicated to music as well as Operetta. You are sure to find some traditional Hungarian based operettas, some contemporary operettas and a lot of influential pieces for the youth being performed here. If you are an art lover, you must make it a point to visit this place.

Budapest Operetta Theatre, Budapest Reviews - Write a Review

  • Beautiful building and shows some with English subtitles VIP tickets upstairs included food and alcohol Recommend

  • Get tickets early , will not be available the day of event. Possibly a day or two out but why risk it.

  • Mostly great shows for foreigners too. English subtitles, Broadway musicals and Hungarian operettas. Pince theatre also great for smaller performances.

  • Quirky yet beautiful building with an interesting programme of lesser-known operettas. Great fun.

  • A very nice but smaller theater. The width between the rows are comfortable for somebody tall too (188-190cm)
