Like a lot of other places, a lot of history of the world has been lost due to the unfortunate World War I and World War II. The long standing Budapest Operetta Theatre is an example of revival of history in the most artistic way possible. Before the break out of World War I, this place functioned as an Orpheum bar. This time was not only known as the golden age of entertainment but also as the golden age of peace for the arts. Today, it houses chandeliers and various other things that are about a 100 years old. Even though a lot of it was destroyed in the wars, this place was renovated and today stands as the hub dedicated to music as well as Operetta. You are sure to find some traditional Hungarian based operettas, some contemporary operettas and a lot of influential pieces for the youth being performed here. If you are an art lover, you must make it a point to visit this place.

  • Excellent Venue to watch the opera. VERY Good view of stage. Clean and spacious. The reception that I received from all member's of staff was helpful and the language barrier was not a problem. If there were any difficulties an English speaker was brought to me. Being Disabled I was shown to my seat. Ticket Prices Very reasonable. The performance was Superb and a good performance is entertaining in Any Language. I WAS entertained. RECOMENDED

  • It's a really nice place with great performances. There are subtitles, so English speakers can also enjoy it. For instance, play callus "Istvan, a kiraly" - it's very interesting and gives some idea of Hungarian history.
