The verdant City Park is a beautiful refuge within the busy city of Budapest. This pretty little park is an attraction that is sure to be loved by all. It also includes within it Vajdahunyad Castle which was built for an exhibition in 1896 and later reconstructed as an enhancement to the park. Another feature to look out in City Park is Memorial to the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence. It was designed by Dosa Papp Tamas, Emodi-Kiss Tamas, Gyorgy Kata, Horvath Csaba of I-Ypszilon. This contemporary styled memorial was built to celebrate 50th anniversary of Hungary’s Revolution and suppressed War of Independence.
As you come to the City Park, don’t miss out to watch one of the largest hourglass in the world – Timewheel. The entire structure is made with granite, steel and glass. Walk close to the wheel and you will see that the sand is pouring from the upper glass chamber to the lower one. The entire duration it takes is around 1 year.
