On the Pest side of Budapest is the Danube promenade. It is a long bank across the Danube from where you can see the river up close. There are also a lot of things to see along the huge walkway. The Elizabeth Bridge where the promenade starts is in itself a very pretty sight. The Little princess Statue, the Vidago Hall and the Marcius square are sites worth a look amongst others.
There is a poetic memorial to the Jews who were murdered by the Arrow Cross Party in their reign. The memorial consists of cast iron shoes that are symbolic of those worn by the people killed on the Danube by the fascist regime of arrow cross. This amazing memorial is definitely something one must visit and pay respects at.
It makes sense to enjoy a beautiful evening on this Promenade enjoying the sights and sounds and get a feel of the history associated with it. it is a calming and tranquil place. It also looks exceptional when lit up at night.
