The City Park Ice Rink (Hungarian: Városligeti Műjégpálya) is a public ice rink located in the City Park of the Hungarian capital Budapest, between the Heroes' Square and the Vajdahunyad Castle. Opened in 1870, it is the largest and one of the oldest ice rinks in Europe. In summer months the area is filled up with water to create a pond, which is primarily used for boating, but also hosted several special events, such as the snowball fight world record attempt in 2009 or the Art on Lake exhibition in 2011. It went through a complete renovation between 2009 and 2011, in which the main building was restored to its 19th-century look. The skating area was expanded to 12,000 square metres (130,000 sq ft) and a standard ice hockey rink was set up as well. The skating rink re-opened on 16 December 2011 and it was the home of the 2012 European Allround Speed Skating Championships from 6 to 8 January. The memorial of the Hungarian Ice Hockey Hall of Fame is also found at the City Park Ice Rink since its inauguration in February 2012.Wikipedia

Romantic, friendly. A nice activity to do in couple or with friends before or after the therms nearby ;-)
Nice setting, wonderful historical building. That's all that could be considered positive. During summer it's a small artificial lake where you could rent a boat. No point as the view is much better from outside. During winter (between mid November and mid February) it's converted to an ice skate ring. The ice quality is one of the worst, staff is rude and unprofessional, tickets, skate rental is way overpriced. It's well worth a visit just stay outside.
I love this place. It is for every season...always offer something different. Ice skating on winter.... sailing in small boats on summer. Place is enjoyable for whole family. ..clean and safe.
ice skating rink just beside heroes square. we were lucky as the ring was gonna close the week after with the ice melting. The ring itself is a temporary facility so its not so well maintained but its fine as long as it serves its purpose. price is affordable
Managed to catch the ice-skating rink at the end of February and the view of the castle was excellent. Renting of the ice skates was hassle free and they provided lockers to keep your belongings. Well worth a visit in winter!
