The Avenida de Mayo is a renowned avenue in Buenos Aires, and was built to connect the Congressional Plaza with the Plaza de Mayo. It was laid down during the end of the 19th century, and the stretch of the avenue is characterized by the eclectic, neoclassical architecture and sophisticated buildings.
For tourist it is very popular place for taking a walk since many interesting as well as historic buildings can be viewed within the span of a short walk. You can just leisurely stroll around and take in the sights and sounds of Buenos Aires without having to try much!
The special attractions of the Avenida de Mayo include the Palacio Barolo, the London City Café, the Congressional Plaza, and Don Quixote monument where the Avenida de Mayo and the Avenida de Julio meet.
- It helps to be careful while visiting the area at night. If anyone looks aggressive don’t look them in the eye and try to walk away calmly. This isn’t an issue anywhere else other than at the congressional square.
