One of the popular tourist attractions in Bukittinggi, Bung Hatta Palace is located at the center of the city right in front of the Clock Tower park. The palace has a very simple structure which is far from pretension. The building earlier used to be the residence of Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia. There is a courtyard adjacent to the palace and a huge area of lush gardens. Between the entrance and the palace complex, you can see a well-sculpted statue of Bung Hatta. Inside the palace, you can take a tour of the historical photographs telling about the life and works of Bung Hatta.
