Boasting of the Islamic and Ottoman influenced architecture, the Green Mosque dates back to circa 15th century and it is distinct for its bright green mosaic tiles. Also known as the Mosque of Mehmed I, the Bursa styled architecture features a vestibule through which you can enter the central hall that is surrounded by eyvans. Take the stairs to explore the upper floor comprising of the royal lodge and two rooms for the royal women. The entrance door is topped by the cascade of stalactites that form a half dome structure. The inscriptions of Rumi adorn the dome. Within an octagonal pond, the white marble fountain, the dark green tiled walls adorned with colourful floral arabesques in the vestibules and the calligraphic inscriptions on blue tiles on the Tabhane door are the notable features of the Green Mosque.
