La Caleta is a famous beach in Cadiz. A haven for denizens as well as tourists, La Caleta (caleta meaning creek) is the smallest beach in the city. The area around the beach has small coloured houses and palm trees and the beach is sort of protected by the castles of San Sebastian and Santa Catalina making it the most picturesque beach of Cadiz. Being a major trade route in the past and having an economic history, a few treasures from the bygone era are buried deep off the coast of the beach. To protect these treasures, scuba diving is prohibited. But, one can still jump in for a refreshing swim. Wondering where you have seen this beach?
