A completely unique and beautiful concept, Zoo de Castellar or the Castellar Zoo is an animal rescue centre. It was started in the year 1998 and was opened in 2002. The main aim of the zoo is to aid animals which were seized by the authorities. The zoo provides a safe haven for animals that were the victims of the black market and who were mistreated and uncared for. The purpose of the rescue centre is to provide these animals with better living conditions. Visitors to the zoo are allowed to feed the animals and interact with them directly. The Zoo de Castellar is situated around an hour’s drive from Cadiz.
