Fitzroy Island, Cairns Reviews
The paradise on earth actually exists and this island is here to prove it. I have discovered this land during my holidays in Cairns and I felt in love with the landscape. I have done some snorkelling and I can say that it is truly amazing with a large range of tropical fishes and turtles present in the water. The beach is one of the most beautiful in the world.
It's beautiful to look at but apart from swimming/snorkelling there isn't much to do here. Hiking was not that entertaining as well. For me personally a total waste of money and time. But i give 2 stars because the scenery is very beautiful.
Amazing. Looks beautiful, water was warm and clear and there's lots fish and also saw a turtle! Beach is coral so footwear is necessary, however there's a small sandy beach a bit of a walk away. The shop there sell food, drinks and items you may need. The turtle centre was informative and a must do when you are there. It's free and you should sign up as soon as you arrive on the island. Must do if you are in Cairns!
Cheaper option for a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef. The return ferry price is very reasonable and it's a quick trip. The beach on Fitzroy has been voted in the 10 ten beaches of the world in 2017. The beach is truly stunning. The only set back is it is a shell beach meaning you have to walk on tons of tiny shells instead of soft sand which can hurt a bit. But don't let that put you off. The water is crystal clear and wonderful for cooling off. There is also a turtle conservation place to visit which is pretty cool. Fitzroy also has a nudy beach a bit further up from the beachside bar.
Amazing place crystal clear water, great bush walks and really chilled atmosphere.
