Skyrail Rainforest Cableway - Review
It is world’s first cable car in environmental tourism. A trip in the glass floor Diamond View Gondolas of Skyrail gives you a remarkable experience over Australia’s top attractions like tropical rainforest. The cable car will take you above the forest and will descend into the canopy layers and enter into the heart of the forest. You can combine the cable car trip with other attractions like Kuranda Scenic railway for a half day or full day tour.

Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, Cairns Reviews
A great experience with a spectacular view. I felt safe the whole time, even in a glass bottom gondola. The staff were awesome and very friendly. If I was to do it again I WOULD NOT pay the extra money for the glass bottom - you really wouldn't miss anything if you were in a normal car. I guess it is a little more thrilling but you get over that almost straight away.
It was a nice trip. Cameron though at Red Peak was an amazing tour guide. Only a few minutes but I seemed to learn something new from his passion for the flora and fauna with every sentence. A little humour and pics made it perfect. Well done and thank you Cameron. ( just a shame I left my sunglasses at the bottom desk!)
This is a must do in Cairns. Most visitors have a 2 or 3 full days if lucky and this is one of those days but can be compressed into a half day if your leaving in the afternoon from the Cairns Airport. So half day or full day is fine but this is and must be seen as in conjunction with your Reef Trip. So if your itinerary is only 2 days in Cairns then this Rainforest Visit is a must. Kuranda is a lovely break from Cairns and great for Lunch. This is a 5 Star event nothing under. If you have an early check out from Cairns or Palm Cove with an afternoon flight earmark Skyrail as a half day trip - you won’t be sorry.
A forever imprint will be there if you visit it just once. There are 2 types of cable cars that u can hire. Standard ones and Diamond View ones. Diamond view cars have a thick glass pane on the floor of the cabin, from where u can see the canopy of the forest as you go over it. Don't hire that if you have fear of heights.
The gondolas give a fantastic view of the forest canopy for a perspective not us usually possible. You really get a different sense of the height of the trees. The short free guided board walk tour was very informative and worthwhile too. We weren't aware of the upgrade to glass floored gondolas I think it would have been worth doing for the small extra cost.
