Reef Encounter, Cairns City Reviews
My colleague and I had a sensational one night, two day dive trip on board Reef Encounter. Both being experienced divers we LOVED not having to be tied to a guide and babysat – it really does make so much difference to the day as an experienced cert! The accommodation was beyond expectation, as was the food (homemade chocolate brownie …. I thanked the Chef personally on the transfer back to Cairns it was so good!) the staff just lovely and the hot tub the icing on the cake after the night dive to look at the stars. Nothing felt rushed, we didn’t feel herded like cats and although only on for one night, we met some lovely people, one of which we have exchanged emails with to get together diving again! As locals in Port Douglas with over 500 dives between us, we are spoiled for choice when it comes to diving on the reef and this trip did not disappoint. Such incredible value for money. Love that there is still another small, family business delivering such an incredible product in our region. We will be going again – next time for two nights!!!!
Awesome experience. Loved the diving and snorkelling. The staff were amazing and the food was stunning! Only negative was it was advertised a free introductory dive but we were charged $70. Apparently that is only for the reef experience which makes no sense as that is the ship that takes you out and you pay more for the encounter? Why do you not get a free intro dive on Encounter too? I'm sure it was advertised that way.
Absolute amazing experience! I fell in love with scuba diving. I booked this trip alone to get my open water certification and everything about it was perfect! Every member of the crew was extremely friendly and welcoming. The comfort of the stateroom and all of the meals well exceeded expectations! The Reef Encounter is a great option for any form of diving especially the open water certification course. My instructor, Hitomi, did an amazing job of teaching me the skills of how to be a diver, while also balancing the lessons with opportunities for fun dives to see the amazing marine life. I wish I didn't have to leave the Reef Encounter! 100% recommend!!
We have been diving all over the world but Reef Encounter is one of a kind and we will be back next year. The Top Deck package is outstanding, the crew, the food and dive & snorkel sites spectaculair! Make sure to read the scuba divers regulation page and do the medical questionnaire, different countries different rules. For any questions you can talk to their lovely crew!! We are counting down to the next trip already.
The Reef Encounter is the absolute best way to experience scuba diving and snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. Here is why: great locations, incredible crew, excellent dive guides, GREAT FOOD, good accommodations , the list goes on and on. If you are looking for a liveaboard in the Great Barrier Reef - this is the only option I would recommend. Also - don't go for just 1 night - you will regret it!! Go for at least 2 nights so you get as much diving in as possible and get to really know your crew and liveaboard guests.
