Cite Europe, Calais Reviews

  • Carefour Hypermarket is a monster superb supermarket. It has everything you need for a one stop shop till you drop experience!! The selection of wines, beers and spirits is great. Bring a cigarette lighter powered electric cool box and avail yourself of fresh fish and seafood, cheaply priced. Buy last thing on the way back to the tunnel and get home to enjoy freshly bought produce from our French cousins. Remember to get some good cheeses, butter and fresher vegetable produce too. Oh, and remember to bring reusable carrier bags with you to use for your shopping.

  • Large busy shopping mall with the usual range of boutiques and stores as well as a vast Carrefour hypermarket which is open between 09.00 and 21.00 (21.30 Thursday to Saturday) six days a week (and is a great place to stock up if you're heading to the UK; alcohol prices - at the time of reviewing - are mostly better than the 'duty free' by the tunnel - and there's a great range). Some decent eateries including a brasserie which brews (as the name suggests) and serves its own beer. Public toilets are situated roughly half way between the restaurants (which also have their own) and Carrefour and there are acres of parking. Fill up with fuel (although watch the exchange rate!) at the Carrefour service station on the roundabout near the hotels.

  • We spent a long time there. Old favourite C & A was worth a visit. They also had other familiar stores like H & M and Naf Naf. The supermarket was huge. We spent a long time in there. We bought wine as there was a good selection there at cheaper prices. Definitely worth a visit.

  • If anything this massive shopping centre just gets better. A fantastic supermarket at one end and some decent food at the other with many good shops in between.

  • Great for a stop near Calais before catching a ferry or Euro Tunnel. Good opportunity to pick up cheap wine and cheese before returning to the UK.
