Glenbow Museum - Review
The largest museum of Western Canada has more than 20 permanent galleries and does a fantastic job telling the history of Calgary and Alberta and the legacy it leaves behind. The timeline follows the pre-oil, post oil and everything else in between.
What makes it so beloved, is the museum’s interactive displays that educates the viewers about the history of the land and the lives of the Alberta Natives. The museum has a fascinating repertoire of temporary exhibitions that are changed quite frequently.

Glenbow Museum, Calgary Reviews
Good museum in a great location. Admission is reasonable considering the amount of exhibits. I spent about 1.5 hours here but easily could've spent 2.5. The Alex Janvier exhibition was great, and as someone from outside Alberta I also really enjoyed the Albertan history section. A neat variety of artifacts and displays and an engaging layout. Friendly staff, too!
Visited the amazing Alex Janvier exhibit. It is a moving and emotionally overwhelming experience, especially given his experience of the infamous Blue Quills Residential School. His work as a 15 year old sits beside his far more mature and retrospective work about that time. This man should receive an Order of Canada to sit beside his Alberta Order of Excellence. The Glenbow Museum never disappoints and I look forward to the new Buddhist and Hindu Exhibit.
Thank you to the Glenbow for hosting the THIRDACTion Seniors Themed Movie Festival! What a great venue for an intimate movie festival! I have been to the museum many times for their displays but never knee that they had a movie theatre with over 200 seats that could be rented. They are licensed as well so you can enjoy your favourite adult beverage while enjoying the Movie. This would be a great venue to host a client appreciation event too.
This museum is a rare gem in Calgary. I love the variety of exhibits. I wish a yearly membership was more attainable for me. But I thoroughly enjoy every visit. I do find it oddly quiet there but also respect the quiet as well. I have loved the visits and would go weekly if I could. Really wish they had more evening events or times so I could visit after work. A great place for a date or a family hang out or a friendly date too. The cynical heart within me is quieter when I'm here. I also find I'm eager to grow and learn after being here. I find the activist and compassionate soul in me comes alive. Such amazing artwork and exhibits. The store also holds gifts of wide pricing range for all class of purchasers to be able to get something.
I came to the Glenbow for research in the library and archives. The staff was incredibly helpful, and I found heaps of documents related to my research. The museum itself is fantastic, and offers a good mix of interesting artifacts to look at and explanation of the importance of those items. Some museums are too light on details, and that's not the case here.
