Glenbow Museum - Review

The largest museum of Western Canada has more than 20 permanent galleries and does a fantastic job telling the history of Calgary and Alberta and the legacy it leaves behind. The timeline follows the pre-oil, post oil and everything else in between.

What makes it so beloved, is the museum’s interactive displays that educates the viewers about the history of the land and the lives of the Alberta Natives. The museum has a fascinating repertoire of temporary exhibitions that are changed quite frequently.

  • The Glenbow celebrated the launch of 3 new exhibits by hosting a party last weekend. It was very well attended and they had some really great musical guests. It was open to all ages so we brought the kids. We spent a couple hours there perusing the entire museum. Lots of fun! Beyond their events, this museum is a great place to spend an afternoon. As many times as I've been there, I always discover something new.

  • There is so much to see at Glenbow museum. You would have to spend a few hours or more to see everything. I loved learning about Alberta's history and how the many mavericks shaped this province. The displays were awesome and there were many, many artifacts from the past. I, unfortunately, did not have the time to visit every floor, but will do next time I visit Calgary. There is also a gift shop on the main floor. This is a very worthwhile place to visit on a leisurely day.

  • This is an incredible museum. A lot to see and learn about Canada's history and past. The displays are phenomenal. The story telling is also amazing. If in town and have time, don't miss this museum.

  • The paintings of planets were unbelievable. The whole place was just awesome. Good place to bring my date who, until then, had never been in a museum. A really good time!

  • This is an interesting way to approach a museum - it's art, natural history and history all rolled into one. It may be too much to take in in a single visit, but admission is valid the whole day. We visited, left for lunch, and came back to finish.
