Canakkale Tourism

Canakkale is a beautiful town and sea port in Turkey and its territory spans both in Europe and Asia. The city is located on the Dardanelles strait, a strategic location because it is one of only two major water passages that connects the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. If you gorge on history and culture for a living, Çanakkale is also the closest city to the site of ancient Troy. Hollywood movie buffs can also rejoice—the wooden horse from the Brad Pitt-starrer Troy is exhibited on the seafront of this city; it gave local tourism a big boost. Çanakkale literally means pot fortress and the city is indeed historically known for its pottery. There has been evidence of settlement in this part of the work all the way since 3000 B.C.
