The Mount Ainslie at an elevation of 2920 foot comprises some part of the Canberra Nature Park and is located near the Mount Ainslie. Stretching along the eastern suburbs of Hackett, it is the highest point of the urban fringes of Canberra. The summit of the hill holds the radar station from where the aircraft warning lights are flashed for the convenience of Canberra Airport. Both the Primary and Secondary Radar Systems are placed here for transmitting the phone signals. From Hackett and Ainslie, you can reach the summit of Mount Ainslie by accessing the numerous walking and single-track biking trails. Eucalyptus, many native Australian Trees, some rare and sensitive plant species and terrestrial Orchids are found in abundance.
