National Gallery Of Australia, Canberra Reviews
Always worth a visit whether for the regular collection or a block buster. Has a great shop full of beautiful or quirky items and gifts. Gallery staff are helpful and polite. The architecture is also a feature in itself. Don't miss the sculpture garden as even a quick walk through will impress. Take a picnic even the weather is fine as there are lots of spots to spread a blanket between the gallery and lake.
It’s an amazing place for all ages but especially, for kids to get familiar with their ancestors’ history. There is a specifically designed gallery for Aboriginal displaying their daily used items. Kids can also enjoy modern world interacting games where parents can also be partners to support overall team scores. Ancient mechanical gadgets are well preserved in their original shapes. A huge lobby, waiting area with coffee shop welcomes visitors while the rest is experience. Outdoor is as aesthetically strong as indoor. A good place to spend time in learning with peace of mind.
A fitting national gallery, with a fine mix of modern and colonial Australian Art, Aboriginal Art and World (mostly European) art. The Aboriginal bark paintings are my personal favourite. The cafe food is great and a good spot to stop for lunch.
Such a great institution. Worth a visit every time you come to Canberra, and I love being a local who gets to enjoy all the amazing exhibitions. We saw Hyper Real here recently and its was mind-blowingly good
The museum was huge with a wide range of art collection. There were volunteering guides scheduled for each type of art and they were interesting! The guides were friendly and gives a good explanation on the exhibitions. Would give it a go again sometimes since I only went for the Asian guide before. 😁
