Probably your only opportunity in Canberra to come up close and personal with wild cats and bears, The National Zoo is a well-maintained, visitor friendly zoo packed with activities. Pat a cheetah or feed a giraffe or simply just gawk at the beauty of the white tigers, your visit to the zoo will be full of ‘awes’ and ‘wows’. The adjoining aquarium, although small has a number of fishes and sea life that is fascinating to see.

• Wear suitable clothes (and footwear) to walk between exhibits.
• Don't forget a hat and sunscreen in the warmer months, and pack an umbrella in case of wet weather.
• Balloons, streamers, confetti or anything that could be a choking hazard for an animal is not permitted on the zoo grounds at any time.
• You are welcome to bring your own food into the Zoo and make use of our Picnic and BBQ facilities.
• Please note however, that alcohol is not permitted within the zoo grounds.
